Maruti Suzuki domestic sales decline by 89% at 13865 units in May 2020

Maruti Suzuki resumed its manufacturing operations post lockdown strictly in accordance with the Government regulations and guidelines, from May 12th at its Manesar facility and from May 18th at its Gurugram facility.


 India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki on Monday reported a decline of 89% at 13865 units in May 2020 owing to country-wide lockdown. The sales stood at 125,552 unit sales in the same month last year.

The company’s total sales also saw a dip of 86.2 per cent to 18539 units in the month under review as compared to 134,641 units sold in May 2019.

Exports also declined 48.82% to 4651 units last month as against 9089 units in the corresponding month a year ago.

The company resumed its manufacturing operations post lock down strictly in accordance with the Government regulations and guidelines, from May 12th at its Manesar facility and from May 18th at its Gurugram facility.

The production also resumed at Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt Limited (SMG) from May 25th, 2020. SMG manufactures cars on a contract basis for Maruti Suzuki.

Likewise, the Company’s showrooms opened in accordance with Centre and State guidelines in a graded manner across different cities.

The remaining showrooms would open in due course if they are not in a containment zone or if not specifically restricted by any local guidelines.
